Fourth of July Celebrations Near Thurmont, MD
Since Independence Day is upon us, there are plenty of fireworks displays to see in MD. You can head to the Fairgrounds Park in Washington County to enjoy all-day events on the fourth. Deep Creek Lake in McHenry, MD, will also have the annual Fire on the Mountain display on the 4th, and they have scheduled a rain date for the 5th of July.
If you’re busy on the 4th, you can still make it to the 28th Annual MSO Salute to Independence held in Sharpsburg, MD on the 6th. This event has a performance of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra at the Antietam National Battlefield. This is considered one of the state’s most patriotic events, and it attracts nearly 35,000 people from all over the United States each year. There are fireworks at the end of the night to end the event with a bang.
Month of Sundays in Westminster, MD
If you love new music and concerts that are free to you and your family and friends, this concert series is the place to be. It’s located right behind 11 Longwell Avenue in Westminster, and it takes place every week on Sunday four times per summer. The next event coming up is on July 7th, and it will run from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. You can expect to hear The Fabulous Hubcaps, an oldies band, while you check out Street Cars of Desire, a corvette show, happening at the same time.
July 14th, Problem Child, a classic rock band, will be performing a Month of Sundays concert. The 21st brings the band Bootleg, which is a classic rock, blues, and country band, as well as the Saturday Cruisin’ muscle car show. The last date is July 28 and features Dean Crawford and the Dunn’s River Band. This country and southern-rock band will be performing while the Mid-MD Ford Club and SAAC Group of Maryland bring the Ford Show to the neighborhood, so you can check out some great cars, too.
All you need to do for these events is to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the show. Parking is even free during the events, and you can get food from vendors sbetween 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
