Springtime is here and so are camping trips in your new or used RV! If you’re looking for an awesome and easy camping recipe for your springtime grilling, grab our recipe below for easy homemade barbeque sauce! It’s perfect for chicken and pork and can easily be made on the road or, better yet, made in advance at home and stored in a travel-safe bottle.
Easy Homemade Barbeque Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups light brown sugar
- 1 ½ cups ketchup
- ½ cup red wine vinegar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 ½ tablespoons dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
- 2 dashes hot pepper sauce or liquid smoke seasoning
You’ll also need:
- Blender/food processor
- Small sauce pot
- Whisk
- 32 oz. storage bottle or jar
Directions:
- Combine the brown sugar, ketchup, red wine vinegar, water, and Worcestershire sauce in a blender. Pulse-blend for 30 seconds.
- Add all dry seasonings and hot pepper sauce or liquid smoke. Blend until smooth.
- Adjust to taste. More brown sugar will make it sweeter, more Worcestershire will give it a more robust flavor, and more hot pepper sauce will definitely kick up the heat. If you like a smoky barbeque flavor, use the liquid smoke instead of hot sauce, but use sparingly. A drop or two is all you need to start with!
- Transfer mixture to a sauce pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Whisk while letting boil for one minute.
- Let sauce cool and carefully pour into a storage bottle. Store in the fridge.
I like to use this easy homemade barbeque sauce anytime we get the grill fired up – just drizzle it on your meat and use a pastry or sauce brush to evenly distribute. Your taste buds will thank you! This is a perfect recipe to use when you’ve got the cooktop on your RV’s outdoor kitchen hot and ready to sizzle.
