10 Should Haves While RV Camping

Whether you’re a seasoned camper or planning your very first outdoor adventure, we all have been in a situation where we wish we would’ve packed something that would have made life easier, while away from home. Camping is meant to be relaxing, an escape from the hustle of our everyday life. The one thing that could put a damper on your escape, is not having access to your local supermarket when you need something you forgot to bring along. So, here is a list of a few things you probably should have when you go camping. Make your next outdoor outing a worry-free getaway.

For all your cooking needs, a cast iron Dutch oven does it all. From baking your breakfast, boiling water, baking potatoes, searing meat and simmering chili. Cast iron can withstand high amounts of heat and something you throw directly on top of the fire. Just make sure you clean and dry properly, and it will last you a lifetime.  It is an absolute must have for a true outdoorsman
When camping in your RV, it truly becomes your home away from home. Whether it be inclement weather or just rough terrain at your campsite, having an outdoor rug can be a lifesaver when you’re camping. From having a place to sit your chairs and kick your shoes off, to preventing dirt being tracked into the RV. An outdoor rug is worth the investment. The kids will also love having a soft place to sit and play outside.
  • Folding Utility Table
This is one that has endless use. We can guarantee you will absolutely find a purpose for a utility table out camping. You can set up buffet style come lunch time, play a round of cards with the family, or prepare the fish you caught without making a mess in the RV kitchen. You will not regret bringing one along to your campsite.
There is nothing worse than being harassed and bit by bugs while you’re trying to enjoy nature. While a pop-up shelter isn’t a must, it sure is nice to have. Not only can you get away from the pesky mosquitos, but you can also enjoy the shade and not have flies landing on your plate while you eat. Additionally, this is handy for families with young kids and babies. Your little one can enjoy a nap in the breeze without being bit up by bugs or have the sun beam down on them.
  • First aid kit
This one is self-explanatory, but something you don’t want to forget. While being away from the everyday chaos is wonderful, it isn’t as wonderful when somebody gets hurt, and you don’t have access to a nearby store or hospital. Something very important to have on hand even if you don’t end up using it
Something New RV owners may not think about is how to make sure everything stays in place while you’re traveling to your destination. If you decide not to purchase the cabinet and fridge safety bars, you can use other alternatives to keep your cabinets closed such as bungee cords, velcro etc. Keep in mind while traveling to pack your cabinets tightly while you’re on the road to prevent your belongings from moving around and potentially breaking. You can always rearrange once you get to your campsite
  • Marshmallow Sticks
The kids won’t be very happy if you forget this one! S’mores are a requirement when you’re camping, so make sure you’re not having to hunt for a stick in the dark when you’re ready to roast one up! Marshmallow sticks aren’t just for marshmallows, you’ll need them for your hotdogs as well. They also make great fire pokers when you’re sitting around the campfire.
A portable fire pit is far from necessary, but it sure comes in handy when your campsite doesn’t allow fires when the conditions are too dry. If you’re like us and want the real camping experience, you have to sit around the fire when the day comes to an end – sitting around the campfire sharing stories and laughter, creates memories that last a lifetime.
You can’t go wrong with having a few tools stowed away in your RV, such as duct tape, zip ties, screwdrivers and a small ax. An ax will come in handy when you need kindling to start your campfire. You never know when you’ll need to secure, repair or change something while setting up camp so a toolbox is a must have!
Large Water Container-Having a large water container filled with distilled water, will prevent having to go through cases of water bottles and using up all the water in your RV. it can be used for cooking, making baby bottles, washing up and a multitude of other needs. Finding one with a valve for easy dispensing is key.
